Portmagee..Michael Sheehan

This is a popular start-off point for visitors to the Skellig Islands.

The vibrant color’s of Portmagee’s village front as seen from across the Bay is very picturesque, and remember this is where the Star Wars crew and actors stayed while filming for the current movies of that name.

STARGAZING: Portmagee is in the Buffer Zone of the KerryIDSR as the orangey glow of the many street lights prevent any quality Stargazing for which the KerryIDSR was awarded.  Portmagee is only a 15 minute drive away from the nearest Dark-Sky Core Zone area of The Glen  For more about Core and Buffer Zones download the KerryIDSR tourist PDF map here.
